The Importance Of Taking Time For Yourself

The Importance Of Taking Time For Yourself

If you read yesterday’s blog (check out those cute puppy butts here) you’ll have read the story of our new family members. Two beasts who have completely taken over my life and home.  They eat before I do, made sure they are healthy, happy, played with, walked, loved all before I manage a morning coffee.

Having had dogs at home all our lives I adore the four legged creatures dearly but having your own is a whole new kettle of fish. Rosemary Mac Cabe describes it beautifully in her Insta captions and blogs about mental health and Coileann- dogs can heal you. I never really thought about it before now but they do.

So now my precious me-time is quite a lot shorter than I’d hoped for. This may be getting through an episode of RuPaul or answering 100 emails without being barked at. I managed to get a facial in on Friday while the house was empty and it was blissful.

I have a copy of Cosmopolitan waiting to be read for about 2 weeks. A reading list as tall as myself and yet all I want to do is take a nap with the furry ones.

On a healing note I try to meditate and repeat my mantras daily. I’d forget to do this without dogs so no point blaming them. I have steps in place to help me stay grounded in a stressful time and today I begin something special.

I’m going to see a lady for something new today: Reflexology. I would like to say I’m totally chill and take things in my stride but I’m not.

Highly strung, anxious and prone to falling into a funk, I have to stay upbeat and on top of things. Taking an hour out of an insane day to have some healing work done is probably the best way for me to tackle it. It is the one thing I can do without thinking of all the things I should be doing.

Today has been a really good day, the dogs went back to bed after breakfast and I got to watch the last two episodes of Riverdale (Sidenote: This needs to return asap).

They walked really well off their leads today and it was a beautiful morning.

A friend is calling over tonight for a glass of wine and a catch up.

I paid bills and may have ordered some boots…

My collaboration is happening this week and a special package is on its way!

What do you do to take care of yourself in stressful times?
